ABSTRACT

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has recently unveiled significant updates through the Competition Commission of India (General) Regulations, 2024, and the Competition (Amendment) Act, 2023.2 By fostering a more business-friendly environment, these amendments strike a balance between encouraging mergers and acquisitions while imposing stringent checks against anti-competitive practices.3 This article explores the pivotal role of the Competition Act in promoting fair competition, safeguarding consumer interests, and preventing the abuse of dominant market positions. Through an analysis of key provisions and recent enforcement actions, we highlight how these regulatory changes contribute to a transparent and efficient market landscape, ensuring that India remains competitive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
